Salwan Education Trust in collaboration with the Directorate of Education and Heartfulness Foundation organised an interactive session to lead the School Leaders towards living a heart-centred life on Wednesday, March 29, 20223 at Thyagraj Stadium, New Delhi. The session was conducted by Kamlesh D. Patel, a Padma Bhushan Awardee and the founder of Heartfulness Foundation, fondly called Daaji. The aim of this session was to equip educators with strategies to engage the young learners in their own growth that brings not only emotional and social intelligence, but also confidence and balance in life. The programme was graced by the presence of Ms. Atishi Marlena, Minister of Education, P.W.D, Power, Culture and Tourism, Delhi Government, and Vice Chairman of Delhi Jal Board; Sh. Himanshu Gupta, IAS, Director of Education, New Delhi; and Shri Sushil Dutt Salwan, Chairman Salwan Education Trust. Dr Indu Khetarpal, Trustee and Former Principal, Salwan Public School also attended the session.
Daaji led the audience in meditation and encouraged everyone to live in tune with the noble qualities of the heart, enlightened and refined through spiritual practice. These qualities include compassion, sincerity, contentment, truthfulness, and forgiveness. He stressed on the importance of training young minds through focus which is crucial in the present times.
Mr. Himanshu Gupta, in his address, discussed the Happiness Curriculum which creates a mindful classroom and a happy relationship between the teachers and students. Ms. Atishi Marlena too delved deep into the significance of meditation to help students live a happy and purposeful life. She elaborated how the Happiness Curriculum which includes meditation is instrumental in the development of self-awareness, good mental health, character, resilience, and better cognitive ability among Delhi school students.
Mr. Sushil Dutt Salwan, Chairman, Salwan Education Trust, thanked Daaji for his gracious presence at the session. He also appreciated the efforts of Mr. Himanshu Gupta, Director of Education on his initiative to make the Happiness Curriculum an essential component of the classroom interactions.
