The Montessori students of Salwan Public School embarked on an exciting and educational adventure on 26th and 27th of July, with a visit to a local supermarket-More. This hands- on experience was planned in alignment with our curriculum where children learnt about their neighbourhood through practical learning opportunities.
The primary objective of the visit was to expose our young learners to a real world setting where they could apply their classroom knowledge. The students were given the opportunity to explore the supermarket, identify various products and understand the process of shopping. They participated in engaging activities such as identifying various products, making healthy choices and practicing polite interactions with the More Megamart staff.
Additionally, the visit emphasized the importance of healthy eating habits and environmental consciousness. Before entering the supermarket, the students were given a brief session on picking up nutritious items like fruits and vegetables, promoting a balanced diet. Moreover, keeping the SDG in mind, they were sensitized about the detrimental effects of plastic bags on the environment and encouraged to use reusable bags or biodegradable alternatives while shopping.
The impact of this field trip was evident as our Montessori students eagerly absorbed knowledge, learnt essential life skills and displayed responsible behaviour during the visit. We extend our gratitude to the Megamart management for their cooperation in making this field trip both enlightening and enjoyable for our students.
At Salwan Public School, we believe that learning extends beyond the confines of textbooks and experiences like these empower our students to become informed, responsible and compassionate global citizens. We strive to continue organising such enriching trips, fostering love for learning and fostering a sense of environmental responsibility among our students.
