Visit to Leh, Kargil and Drass

Patriotism, Valour, Honour, Bravery, Sacrifice and Excitement! These were the thoughts and sentiments of our Young Salwanians who visited Leh, Kargil and Drass from 10th-18th August 2022.

Since 2016, the Salwan Education Trust has been organising educational trips for the students and staff members to Kargil and Drass. The trip is primarily organised to imbibe the spirit of Patriotism and respect for the Indian Armed Forces amongst the students.

11 students and 1 teacher from the school were a part of the 35-member contingent that represented all schools run under the aegis of Salwan Education Trust. The visit was made even more special as they celebrated the 75th Year of Indian Independence in the presence of the jawans and officers.

The students visited Lamdon Senior Secondary School, Thiksey Monastery where they learnt about different beliefs in Buddhism, Rancho School from the movie 3 Idiots, Shanti Stupa, Army Regiment Camp, Hall of Fame, Zorawar Fort, Khardungla Pass, Leh Palace, Pathar Singh Gurudwara among many other interesting places.

The highlight of the trip was the visit to the Kargil War Memorial where they attended the Solemn Ceremony dedicated to all the heroes who had laid down their lives in the service of the nation and paid their respect. The trip was a great learning experience for all the students and the teachers and left them with memories to last a lifetime.
