Salwan Public School, Rajendra Nagar welcomed Dr Kiran Seth and his team on the momentous occasion of World Environment Day on Sunday, 5th June 2022. The School upholds the vision that education should not be confined to the four walls of the classrooms. Hence, it aims to offer the students a wider forum to choose their career and provides them with a variety of opportunities to pursue their passions in professional sports, dance, music, etc., to hone their skills and develop their talents.
Dr. Kiran Seth is the founder of Spic Macay- The Window of the Indian Cultural Heritage to the world. He is Professor Emeritus, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi and ex Vice-Chairman Governing Council, Film and Television Institute.

Smt. Priyanka Barara, Principal, Salwan Public School felicitated Dr. Kiran Seth and his team. Her welcome address highlighted the efforts made by Dr. Kiran Seth and his team for attaining the Sustainability Goals for the Environment.
Dr. Seth in his unmatched spirit, is enough to surprise any youth. The Padma Shree Awardee has time-and-again set out on a bicycle, to tour the country and inform the youth about fitness and the mystical ancient art and culture of the country. But the purpose of cycling is not just limited to this, it has a much larger perspective specially for sustainable lifestyle.
According to Dr. Seth, if people inculcate the habit of cycling, it will solve problems related to traffic, environment and health. This too is a form of meditation according to him. He has recently returned from Jaipur on bicycle and shall embark upon another bicycle journey from Kashmir to Kanyakumari to mark the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ soon.
Participants in the event had the opportunity to see glimpses of his cycling expeditions that are focused on educating the youth and getting them involved in achieving sustainable environmental goals.
SPICMACAY’s key objective is to enrich the quality of formal education by increasing awareness amidst youth about different aspects of Indian heritage. It also ignites a hope that the beauty, grace, values, and wisdom in these art forms will influence their way of life and inspire them to become better human beings.
Dr. Seth, in his address, gave an insight into not just his expeditions but also the mind and heart behind it all. He emphasised the importance of preserving classical art of theatre by showing a classical film once a week to all classes to familiarise students with our deeply rooted cultural values. Dr. Seth’s love and care for nature and his endeavours are indeed highly appreciable.
While interacting with the students, he shared his perspective on the current situation of the youth, who are struggling to have a fit and sustainable lifestyle, as well as keeping up with the trends their peers follow. As a part of his message, he explained how schools can help close this gap and allow students’ worldviews to open up, helping them recognize and embrace their own culture.
