Readers’ Revelry- Inter-school Competition

The school organised an inter-school literary enactment competition, ‘Reader’s Revelry, the Great Character Chronicles’ on October 27, 2023, at Janak Juneja Hall. The event witnessed an overwhelming response from about 19 schools from Delhi-NCR. The programme started with a welcome  of the distinguished judges and participants through mesmerising songs and enchanting band performance by the students. Their melodious music set the perfect tone for this literary celebration, leaving the audience spellbound.

Following the grand opening, the event kicked off with an introduction and felicitation of the esteemed jury members: Ms. Veena Kapoor, Professor of English, Shyama Prasad Mukherji College, University of Delhi; Ms. Jyoti Kathpalia,  Associate Professor of English, PGDAV, University of Delhi, and Ms. Sonali Taneja, PGT English, VVDAV Public School, Vikas Puri.

A total of nineteen schools participated in the competition, with each team transporting the spectators to enchanting literary worlds. The performances ranged from the intriguing mysteries of Sherlock Holmes to the entrancing universe of witches, demigods, and magic. Additionally, the captivating works of Shakespeare came to life on the stage.

Every team gave their best, and each performance seemed to outshine the other, making the judges’ decision particularly challenging. The First Position was shared by the host school Salwan Public School, Rajendra Nagar, and Adarsh Public School for their outstanding performances of ‘Julius Caesar’ and ‘Christmas Carol’ respectively. St. Mark’s Senior Secondary School’s presentation of ‘Macbeth’ secured the Second Position, while the students of Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar were awarded the Third Position for their compelling enactment of ‘Maleficent’. The judges also recognized the exceptional efforts of the students of Jain Bharti Mrigavati School by bestowing upon them the title ‘Literary Icon’. Salwan Public School, Trans Delhi Signature City and Vasant Valley received ‘Special Mention’ for their impressive performance.

Following the announcement of the results, the judges shared their valuable insights and provided expert opinions on how the enactments could be further enhanced to make them even more interesting and thrilling.

The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Mrs. Priyanka Barara, Principal, Salwan Public School. She emphasized the paramount importance of reading and highlighted that the world of literature is a realm of wonders.

The event truly showcased the magic that resides within the pages of books and how it can captivate and inspire all who dare to venture into the world of literature.
