Designing Multiple Choice Items – Jan 2021

An Inhouse Training Programme on Designing Multiple Choice Items was conducted on 7th January, 2021 for the senior faculty members. The Resource Persons for the programme Ms Vandana Chopra (T.G.T English) and Ms Sakshi Batra (T.G.T. Science) delved deep on the strategies that can be used to design quality MCIs for the evaluation as per the revised CBSE examination pattern. Various sample questions were discussed to inculcate the skill of creating items catering to High Order Thinking Skills such as analysis and evaluation. Due emphasis was laid on grammatical accuracy to avoid any ambiguity in the language. All the teachers were given an opportunity to create, critique, edit and practice test items. The same training programme was conducted by respective departments for their faculty on 8th January 2021. The session was an eye opener as it dispelled beliefs regarding the construction of the MCIs and equipped teachers to construct quality questions.
