Samman Diwas

A Tribute to the Brave Sons of our Motherland
The school celebrated 'Samman Diwas' to honour the brave soldiers of the Indian Armed Forces on Saturday, 19th August, 2017. Samman Diwas, an annual feature of our school, salutes the indomitable courage and the supreme sacrifices of our brave men in uniform. Lt. Gen. Satish Dua, UYSM, SM, VSM, Chief of Integrated Defence Staff graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

On this occasion, the 23rd Blood Donation Camp was organized for the Armed Forces and their families, in association with the Armed Forces Transfusion Centre. The camp was inaugurated by Lt. Gen. C. S. Narayanan, VSM***, Dy Chief IDS (Medical) & Colonel Commandant, the Guest of Honour. Decorated Soldiers from the Indian Armed Forces and Jawans from 7 Assam Regiment were honoured on this momentous occasion. The Staff, Parents and other members of the Salwan Fraternity expressed their heartfelt gratitude towards the Guardians of our Frontiers, by donating blood for them. Dr. (Mrs.) Indu Khetarpal, Principal, accorded a warm welcome to the distinguished guests who graced the solemn occasion.

Meritorious students of Class X from the Salwan Group of Schools were felicitated for their exemplary academic performance and were awarded a four-day holiday to Shimla as a token of appreciation.

A scintillating Cultural Programme showcasing the rich culture and varied heritage of our country was presented. Through a magnificent blend of music, dance and theatre, the students displayed a spectacular mosaic of our Unity in Diversity.
Mahabhoj, a unique food festival was organized for the Defence Personnel wherein a wide array of cuisines from different parts of our country was served.

A visit to the Army Base Hospital was also organized. The Salwanians presented tokens of love and gratitude to our Real Heroes. The excitement of the soldiers at the Army Hospital knew no bounds when they received goodies and handmade get well soon cards from our students.

Through this mega-event, we endeavoured to sensitize our students towards the selfless services being rendered by the sentinels of the nation, who stand guard against all odds and make innumerable sacrifices so that we may sleep peacefully at our homes.
