SPS/    26     /2010/         For Classes I-VI                      May 7, 2010

Dear Parent,

Greetings from Salwan!

Before we close for Summer Vacations we need to meet, discuss the performance of your ward and accordingly take steps during the Summer Break.

PTM is scheduled for 15th May 2010.  The timings of the PTM will be 9.00 a.m.  to 11.30 a.m.  Parents are requested to meet the class teachers before 11.30 a.m. as teachers would not be available after the same.

A SIMOVA helpdesk in the Primary Compute Sc. Lab. will be set up on PTM day for parents, who are facing problems in accessing the medical reports of their wards.

Through this circular I also wish to inform you that this session’s first round of Biometric Examinations will be conducted by a Team of specialists from SIMOVA for all the students of class I to Class VI between 10th of May to 14th of May, 2010 and reports will be uploaded on the same day.  Parents should download their child’s reports from the net. A team of doctors from SIMOVA will also be available on PTM day in the school dispensary for consultation (In case medical reports indicate any negative remark regarding health status, the same can also be discussed)

SIMOVA Health Programme, which was started in 2009, as a pilot study in our school, is now fully functional and the learning, which took place last year, will help us to improve it further.

NOTE: We are also enclosing a questionnaire for the parents to fill up so that we can  understand the grey areas and work on them.  You are requested to fill it up and send it back to the Class teacher, the next day.  This would help SIMOVA address your concerns on PTM.

LEO PLANETARIA, UNIVERSE IN DOME:

The school is also organizing LEO PLANETARIA, UNIVERSE IN DOME.  This is a state of art technology and a unique concept that gives an exposure to students about the fascinating universe.  Students’ up to Class V will participate in a show titled “Princess Andromeda” and from class 6 onwards in “Galileo’s Sky”.

Students need to enjoy, relax as well as keep in touch with their books.

Happy Holidays!

Dear Parent,

Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) has become effective from 1st of April, 2010. According to the new system each child has to opt for a minimum of two activities. Keeping the same in mind, following Clubs will function, on a regular basis, twice a week. You are requested to help your child, decide on any two activities based on his/her inclination/interest. Do keep in mind that the activity for which a child does not have an aptitude should not be forced upon him/her. We seek your cooperation in identifying their talent, so that they can actualize their true potential.

Late entries may have to compromise on the selection of activities/club. If a child selects sports activity he/she would participate only in one event in sports and in addition would have to opt for another club.

CLUBS/ACTIVITIES SPORTS ACTIVITY

Dear Parent

“ There is no one giant step that does it;  it’s a lot of steps.”

Global and climate change is a cause of concern and each one of us needs to take an initiative in whatever best way we can.  It can be a small step, refuse to take a ploythene bag, and instead carry a jute bag, plant a tree, turn off the tap when not in use, etc.

We, at Salwan have always believed in taking a step forward to save the environment.  As another step in this direction, we have decided to get in touch with you, in future, through email and SMS rather than sending circulars.  However, this endeavour of ours can be successful only with your support and cooperation.  Henceforth, we shall inform the student through the school diary, before sending any circular by email, so that you can check your e-mail ID and go through the information; the school desires to disseminate.

We request you to send your consent for receiving information through email by responding to our email, salwanpublicschool@gmail.com in the format given below.

We will eagerly wait for your response.

SPS/         /2010/                                                  Feb 2, 2010

Dear Parent,

The Final Exam of Class XI is scheduled from 24th of Feb. 2010.  It may kindly be noted that promotion to the next class would depend entirely on your ward securing a minimum of 40% on the consolidated marks in each subject.  Thus, on the basis of  his/her previous performance, if he/she requires to put in more efforts in a particular subject, the same must be taken up seriously.  If a student gets less than 40% in the aggregate in any one subject, he/she will be given a chance to reappear in the month of April.  The, re-examination is permitted only in one subject.

Students must start preparation for the Exam. from now itself  as the syllabus of class XI is quite advanced, requiring proper understanding of the content matter.  Your ward has to devote a minimum of 6-7 hours quality time for studies at home, only then will he/she be in a position to write the Exam with confidence.  There is no short cut to success; it is only hard work and focused studies, which actually bear fruit.  Needless to say, some sacrifice has to be made by the child as well as the Parent for achieving the desired results.

We do hope that your ward would not leave any stone un-turned for ensuring a good performance in the ensuing Exams.

The syllabus and the date-sheet for the final Examination of Class XI would also be available on the school Web Site- www.salwanpublicschool.com.

School timings during Examination days would be from 7.15 a.m. to 11.00 a.m., however, buses will leave school at 11.30 a.m.

Date of declaration of result: 29th March  2010.

The next academic session would start w.e.f. 1st  April 2010. Kindly return the library books & pay the school dues before 11.02.2010. For the convenience of parents, a drop box has been placed at Gate No.1 of the school, where they can drop the fee cheques.

Dear Parent

The process of assessing students, as per the CBSE guidelines is being implemented by us.  The information regarding the same has been circulated earlier, also, vide our circular No.SPS/2107/2009, dt. Oct. 31, 2009.

After a lot of deliberations, in order to bring objectivity into Formative Assessments 3 & 4 and to eliminate ambiguity, we have given it some structure; the same is enclosed for your perusal.

Parents are requested to ensure that Assignments (H.W. & C.W.), Project Work, Practical File, H.W./C.W Ex-books etc. are maintained properly, by their ward/s. Special assignments, decided upon, for testing in H.W/C.W for FA3 & FA4, would be allotted marks. Prior information regarding the topic and methodology would be disseminated by the subject teachers. Thus, students should take care, regarding the quality and presentation of the assignments, submitted by them. Syllabus for FA 3 (I.A.) has been given to the students; the same is also available on the school website www.salwanpublicschool.com.

It may be noted that the Unit Test is being replaced by Internal Assessments (I.A.), which are pen and paper tests and other tools, mentioned overleaf.

Weightage of Marks:

FA1,FA2,FA3 & FA4 would be given 10% weightage each. In the 2nd Term, 2 Internal Assessments (IA) would be conducted. 10% weightage of the same would be included in FA4.

Dear Parent,

Our School, in association with Simova Sciences, is pleased to announce the next step in our new healthcare program - the initiation of the world’s first web based online Comprehensive Student Health Management (SHM)TM system

Medical Science is one of the fastest evolving fields today, with new technologies, and ideas being applied continuously to improve not only our ability to cope with diseases and ailments, but also our everyday standard of living.

Just as scattered diagnoses, mislaid prescriptions and medical records become a thing of the past with electronic and personal health records, it is easy to envision a person’s entire health and wellbeing monitored and managed systematically with ease in the very near future.

As such, the Student Health Manager is the first essential step in that direction, laying the foundation for ‘enabling lifetime healthcare’ and signaling the medical transition from the ‘Information Age’ to the ‘Knowledge Age’.

The SHMTM is a safe and secure way of managing your child’s health, all the way from kindergarten to the age of 18, and even beyond that. It has been designed based on Best Practices in Modern Medicine, Holistic Care, State of Art Technology, International Standards and Data Security Protocols. Starting with the InfoSeek form filled by you, the SHMTM provides tremendous immediate and long term benefits.

This electronic online health recording system is an integral part of a comprehensive Student Health Program that includes quarterly and annual medical and paramedical assessments conducted on the school campus.

The SHMTM is supported by our Help and Support Services Center, which, amongst other services rendered, is there to assist and guide you on how to take full advantage of this unique facility for your child. . The information is stored and updated in an easy to use, absolutely secure, online format that can be accessed by you anywhere in the world, and shared with any medical professional chosen by you using a carefully monitored permissions tool.

Another unique feature of the SHMTM is to nurture the talents of our students, and support any special needs they might have, by providing them and their parents with articles, videos and other media content customized to their requirements.

By taking the lead in ensuring that schools across India make the health of their students a priority, we believe this healthcare program will help develop and nurture the nation's future. Starting health management at an early age is considered the best way to manage and prevent any future health problems and is the best way to realize the definition of health as stated by the WHO:

Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being,
and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.”

We thank our first group of students, their parents, and our own dedicated staff for their cooperation in the launch of this program. It is our pleasure to welcome you to this new world, and we look forward to working with you as we go forward with this unique system and build the healthy future that our children deserve.

Yours truly,

Dear Parent

In the wake of the outbreak of Swine Flu, we request  parents to be extra cautious and not to take flu related symptoms casually, however, please do not panic. If fever persists , kindly consult your family Doctor.

For important information related to Swine Flu, You may go to the Home Page and click on the link-'Swine flu-Fact File'.

'Prevention is better then Cure', hence, you are also requested not to send your ward to school if he/she is suffering from Flu related symptoms, even if it has not been diagnosed as Swine Flu. It would help in containing the disease which can take the form of an epidemic in India.

You will appreciate that maximum victims of this virus are school going children and few schools in Delhi had to be closed down because of Swine Flu related cases.

INVITATION TO PARENTS FOR ART EXHIBITION

Dear Parent,

It is an acknowledged fact that art occupies a prominent place among children.   While they do not understand the “reason”, they enjoy playing with colours, through their spontaneity, creativity and imagination.  This “conspicuous” communication tool enables students to use their creative power and propels their imagination on the wings of fire, into a fantastic world of colours.

It gives us great pleasure to invite you to an exhibition of art and craft, ‘Freedom of Expression’, from 29th -31st July, 2009,  11.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m.,  at All India Fine Art and Craft Society (AIFACS) Hall, 1, Rafi Marg, New Delhi. The inauguration will be on 29th July, 2009 at 5.30 p.m.

As you are aware, we take pride in acquainting our students with the various skills involved in art and provide numerous opportunities to those who display talent and inclination towards it, to evolve into “artists” in their own right.  This exhibition, especially organized in an art gallery, is an effort to give a platform to our budding stars to showcase their creative excellence.

A unique feature of this exhibition will be the “Spot Sale” of the paintings on display.  This will make our artists get the real feel of being “professionals”, initiating the opportunity to take up painting as a career, which is not only highly respectable but also very lucrative.  Part of the proceeds from sale will go to the students and the rest will be used to meet the expenses incurred for the exhibition.

We are confident that your presence will boost the morale of our ignited minds and add luster to the occasion.

Looking forward to your presence at the Exhibition.

Yours truly,

(VANDANA PURI)
