When I go to drop my kid to Salwan Public School, there is a rush in my blood full of excitement that someone might call me from behind “Kulvinder yahann kaisey”?, and my answer, I am living my school life, once again, through my son. Looking back I find my loving teachers yelling ‘who is talking in the class?” Mrs.Renu Jallani’s ultey haath ka thappar and Miss Mohini Sarin’s polite scolding and consoling next time you will get good marks.
Taneja Sir’s non stop drum beat preparation for the ANNUAL
DAY, to the last drop of sweat. Desperately waiting for my
bus no.15, and eagerly waiting for ROSY (name changed) to
board the bus. Finding excuses, to talk as she was my
senior. (Don’t know whether she realized it till the last
day).
Still remember, Mrs.Chugh’s physics lectures which were as
good as a mother’s lullaby. And Mrs.Vandana Puri’s ‘jee tod
koshish to make us understand ENGLISH’ And she always used
to use a favorite word ‘UNCOUTH BEHAVIOR’. Recess always
used to be so funfilled and the scene at canteen never used
to be less than a riot.
Samosas, Sipso (soya milk) bhatoorey, prepared in the most
dirty utensil and oil. (All this seems as, yesterday).
Dr. N.N Kher’s pet dialogue ‘you know this, I mean’. (And I
never understood what he meant) .Mrs. Vandana Puri, Mrs Ruby
Chugh and Mr. Chawla had a laughing riot at our picnic in
Surajkund (1989).I don’t know what else to pen down but till
today I miss the entire faculty and my fellow classmates.
Those small mischief’s ,singing in the class (table bajakey)
,celebrating birthday’s . These days will always be living
,in me and am sure they would be in you too.
As a reader I don’t know how many of you know me, but do give a call on the given number. I will be looking forward to hear your voice ‘THE LOST SALWANIAN’.
