The mercury is rising and there’s havoc on this earth. All creatures are trying to cool themselves off. Animals have devised their own ways for cooling themselves. We human beings, the most superior of all creatures, have our own ways-the best and also the most harmful ways to keep ourselves cool, we have air conditioners. Whenever it’s hot outside, we like to remain inside, switch on our ac and just lie on our couch like a potato and spend the whole day in front of the cubical box. It’s our life and we have our ways of enjoying it. On the other hand, the main sufferers of the rising mercury are the poor plants who can’t move into water which is relatively cool. Friends, but indirectly we are going to be sufferers as well, because if the ecological balance is disturbed then even we shall die. The rapid rise in the mercury today is leading to all sorts of problems and is a major cause of concern. Warmer weather, rising sea levels and melting glaciers are just some of the problems that we are faced with today.

If not today, then definitely tomorrow after this increase in temperature, there is likely to come a transition. A transition that will decide the fate of this planet and all living on it. I am talking about the rapid decline in the high temperature, which would then cool this earth. Initially, this cooling would be probably liked by one and all, but beware as it will lead to an ice age.

Before the ice age, the water from the earth’s surface will evaporate due to heat but this time it will not fall down in the form of rain but will precipitate as snow. Thus, the accumulation of snow on earth, layer by layer and the blowing of the cool breeze will freeze everything. And we human beings will be mere spectators with no options then but to face it because, it will be an after-effect of our selfishness today. Why? Why should we let this happen?

Friends, I hope you have seen the movie ‘ice age 2’.it is one of the best ways to educate the youth today about the upcoming challenges. In this movie, the producer has very minutely tried to depict each and every quality in animals i.e. love and harmony with nature and its creatures and persuades us to imbibe the same and hence prevent the natural changes that may transform our lives greatly. In the movie, we find that the animals are very sensitive to the alterations in the environment around them. They can anticipate the imminent changes in a much better way than we can. This is a very strange yet a true fact. It can be easily observed through the migration of birds from the regions of adverse climate to those which favour them. In the movie, we find that the advent of ice age is also anticipated by the birds and animals and they led by a mammoth begin their long march to the South so that they can protect themselves from the severe climatic changes. Friends, if the animals, the so called uncivilized and unorganized creatures can come together in trying to overcome the adverse effects of the changes, then why can’t we, the so called most intelligent and the smartest creatures on this planet do something? Why can’t we mend our ways?

Believe it or not the Earth took nearly 4.5 billion years to evolve but it would take much less time to be destroyed. Now it’s up to us…..are you willing to join hands and make a difference?
