His Holiness the Dalai Lama in his awe-inspiring discourse, laid stress on the following points:-
- The young Indians of the 21st century have immense potential to transform the world. The young generation needs to think and work with a clear vision for creating a better world.
- The existing modern education system is not well-equipped to overcome the ongoing crisis and conflicts in different walks of life. Therefore, there is a need to revive the ancient Indian knowledge for promoting high moral values, divine virtues and ethics. Stress should be laid on character building and holistic development.
- Training of the Mind should be focused upon to ensure the over-all well-being of each individual. Just as we lay emphasis on physical fitness, mental health and emotional well-being should also be stressed upon. In order to create a peaceful world, it is essential to promote inner peace through positive forces such as humanity, unity, love, compassion, forgiveness, brotherhood, tolerance, contentment, self-discipline and selflessness. Learning to tackle destructive emotions will result in happier individuals. It is therefore necessary to shun negative forces such as anger, fear and self-centeredness.
- Promotion of religious tolerance and understanding among the world's major religious traditions will help in maintaining peace and harmony in the world.
