A group of sixty three students and three teachers participated in a March organized by NPSC, United Nations Information Centre( UNIC) for India and Bhutan and the Sonalika group held on the 15thNovember 2017. The students from various schools of Delhi and NCR participated in the March which took place around Nehru Park.
Students from five different schools had prepared a documentary on the "Various Sources of Pollution" which was shown at the event. A press Conference had been organized by UNIC in which the representatives from five schools answered the student's queries.
Ananaya of class X-D, from Salwan Public School, Rajendra Nagar was the spokesperson who responded to the intriguing queries.
Mrs Sadhana Bhalla, Principal Mira Model School and Chairperson NPSC addressed the students and motivated them to play an active role in spreading awareness against rising pollution levels in Delhi. Aasmita, the leading theatre group of Delhi also staged a street play highlighting the consequences of rising pollution levels.
It was an initiative by the National Progressive Schools
Commission to spread awareness about the rising level of smog in Delhi and
the deteriorating air quality in the capital which is leading to diseases
like Asthma, Bronchitis, Tuberculosis and severe burning in the eyes and
Cancer in the long run.
